Genesis/History

         Brief History

Sheth Mansukhlal Chhaganlal trust donated Rs.9.0 lakh to start School of Agriculture in 1937 and there after Krushi Go Vidyabhavan (Khetivadi) came into existance in 1939.

With the efforts of Late Shri. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Shri. Kanaiyalal M. Munsi, School of Agriculture was started in 1941. In the first year 85 applications were received and 58 students were admitted in this school.

Dr. M. D. Patel was the first Principal of School of Agriculture and he worked from 1947 to 1959. 

Agricultural research, teaching and extension activities were included simulteniously in Krushi Go Vidhyabhavan (Khetivadi) and Gujarat Agricultural University came into existance in 1972 and the institute was merged.

The School of Agriculture building was constructed as first building of the University in 1942, which is considered as historical one.

The mandate of  School was to impart training in Agriculture and allied fields to the sons of farmers and agricultural labours. The Diploma in Agriculture course was of two years duration with medium of instruction in Gujarati.

Polytechnic in Agriculture at Anand came in to existence since 27th May, 2008 and known as "Sheth M.C. Polytechnic in Agriculture". However, the academic programmes were commenced from the academic year 2009-10.

Achievements:

      Total 2836 students were awarded two year Diploma in Agriculture certificates during the tenure of  School of Agriculture.
