Anand
Agricultural University (AAU) is the premier Agricultural
University for the middle Gujarat, having jurisdictions spread
over six districts i.e. Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Dahod,
Panchmahal and Amdavad. The education, research and extension
education are three principle objectives of the University. The
Agricultural Technology Information Center has been started from
August, 2005 for disseminating Agricultural Information and
Technology to the farmers & other stakeholders
Objective
1. To
empower farmers through direct access for information &
knowledge.
2. To create strong linkage between different research
divisions/ units and users of technology.
3. To develop, published and supply latest technology by
developing publication for the farmers, through
folders, CD’s, Video films etc.
4. To help farmers in problem solving and decision making.
5. Supply of Seeds, Planting materials, Bio- fertilizers,
Bio-pesticides, Earth worms and Vermicompost etc.
6. To provide animal health service at ATIC.
7. To provide various analytical services of plants, soil and
water for the nutrient contents etc.
8. To popularise the new technologies developed by the
University and allied institutes in the Agricultural
sciences.
9. To facilitate a dynamic feed forward and feed back
mechanism
Facility
The staff
available at the ATIC includes four subject matter specialists (SMS)
from the disciplines viz. Agronomy, Horticulture, Animal
Husbandry and Home science. The staff in addition to their
regular field visits and extension work, also available at ATIC
for replying to the queries of the farmers and other stake
holders. They also offer diagnostic services to the farmers
The Manager, ATIC is also assisted by the
public relation officer by whom it is easy to show different
activities of the University to the farmers and other visitors.
After each visit ATIC scientists interact with farmers regarding
Agricultural technologies developed by University.
Farm Advisory Service
The
queries of the farmers visiting ATIC are solved by the concerned
subject matter specialists (SMS).
Diagnostic Services
The
disease/ insect infested crop samples brought by the farmers are
diagnosed by the concerned SMS and accordingly
Demonstrations
The models of vermicompost, zero energy
cool chambers etc. have been developed for the benefit of the
farmers & other stake holders
Sale
The
seeds, planting material, bio-agents/ pesticides/ fertilizers, /
publications of the University are being sold through ATIC under
single window delivery system for the maintenance of the
planting material to be sold to the farmers, there is facility
of well built poly house in the premises of ATIC, AAU, Anand.
Audio Visual Hall
The farmers visiting to ATIC in group are
being advised through different audio visual aids. The training
programmes for farmers and allied staff are being conducted in
the audio visual hall.
