OBJECTIVES

The main objective of the scheme is to teach and train secondary pass students to enable them to perform and serves various activities in the area of agriculture and related fields and high technology to spread the knowledge among the farming community, to earn wages, to become self employment and to get higher education in agriculture. Specific objectives are : 

  1. To conduct academic programme leading to diploma in Agriculture to develop skilled manpower for agro-based industries

  2. The  liaison  with  different agencies  for  effective training  and  first  line  transfer of  technologies

  3. To  provide  technical  person to  the Agro-based industries,  government  and  non-government organizations etc.

  4. To develop capability and ability of the students for admission in the higher education of degree course

  5. To undertake need base research for Agriculture & related fields

  6. To confer the ' Diploma  in  Agriculture '  certificate  to  the  students  after  successful completion of three years course

Duration of the study 

The duration of Diploma Studies in Agriculture after 10th standard   shall be of three years divided in to six semesters

FACILITIES

  1. Hostel :  It is a residential Polytechnic for both boys and girls

  2. Library :  Existing library facility will be strengthened

  3. Sports complex :  Existing sport ground of B.A. Collage of Agriculture will be used for Polytechnic

ADMISSION   REQUIREMENT

(a)  Admission Capacity : Total twenty five students will be admitted in each academic year.         

(b)  Minimum Age : The age requirement of a candidate on first day of July of the year in which first admission to the polytechnic in Agriculture shall be in between fourteen to twenty-five years.

(c)    Both boys and girls could get admission in the Agricultural Polytechnic

(d)  Qualification :       Minimum qualification for applying to the Diploma Studies in Agriculture will be Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination of Gujarat State or other equivalent examination along with English as compulsory subject.

 (e) Percentage of Marks :   The minimum requirement of percentage of marks in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination of Gujarat State or other equivalent examination shall be as under  

1. The minimum requirement of marks for various categories in the above  mentioned qualifying examination for admission to Agricultural Polytechnic shall be as under.

 a.    For ST           :  35%   

 b.    For SEBC       :  40%      

 c.    For SC           :  40%

 d.    For all others :  45%

2. In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks in the merit,  the inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be determined in order of  preference as follows:

(a) Candidate obtaining higher marks in Science subject in SSC   examination

(b) Candidate obtaining higher marks in Mathematic subject in SSC examination

(c) Candidate obtaining higher marks in English subject in SSC examination

(d) Candidate older in age to be preferred.

3. Deduction of Percentage of Marks for Failure

Three percent marks for each failure (additional trial) will be deducted  from the total percent marks secured.

candidate with maximum of three trials in qualifying examination (SSC- Std.X) shall be considered eligible for admission.

4. Weightage of Percentage of Marks for Preparing Merit list :

5. Weightage of five percent of marks over and above marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be given for preparing merit list to the candidate, if he/she is farmer's Son / Daughter / Brother / Sister / Grand Son / Grand Daughter. However, candidate has to produce certificate of 7-12 record of current year from competent authority for having land in Gujarat under cultivation by himself / his / her Father, his / her Mother, his / her Grand Father (Paternal) his / her Grand Mother  and his / her Brother.

6.Weightage of two percent of marks over and above marks obtained at qualifying examination shall be given for preparing merit list to the candidates, if he/she has passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std.X) with vocational Stream in Agriculture as well as to the students who have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std.X) with Agriculture subjects.

7.Weightage to the Sports persons

 Weightage to  the  Sportsmen  /  Women  for  admission  to  Polytechnic  in  Agriculture  will  be given as under :

11.         ATTENDANCE :

The minimum percentage of attendance required to be completed by a student in each course shall be 75 per cent of the total credit hours of the academic calendar.

13. The sequence of internal and semester end examination shall be as follow:

(i)         Courses having theory only:

The sequence shall be first test, second test and semester end examination.

(ii)        Courses having practical only:

The sequence shall be internal practical examination after second hourly and semester end practical examination.

(iii)       Courses having theory and practical:

The sequence shall be first test, second test and one practical examination after second hourly and semester end theory examination.

14.    Distribution of marks:

            I. Theory (Internal and Semester End Examination)

            II. Practicals

 15.    Award of Class :

The award of a class to a student shall be based on OGPA (Overall Grade Point Average) obtained by him/her and shall be indicated in the Diploma certificate. The basis of the award of class shall be as under:
