Introduction
General Hooka
tobacco which is locally known as "Gadaka" is grown as rainfeed crop in
sanand taluko of the Ahmedabad district on saline alkaline soil with the
total area of about 1000 hectares. Looking to the interest and need of
the growers of this region. Gujarat Agricultural University has
established the Tobacco Research Station at Sanand in 1979-80 acquining
6.44 ha land to develop new draught resistant Godaku tobacco and its
Agronomy practices.Since last two year tobacco crop are not grown.
Cotton-21 variety seed production programme are takplace. This station
is located 60.27 meter above mean see level & 25 km.away from Ahmedabad.
2 km. away from sanand Railway station & bus station and under North
Gujarat Agroclimatic zone. Totally Dry Climatic & rainfed condition.
