All India Co-ordinated
Research Programme on
Weed Control, B A College of Agriculture
Anand Agricultural University
ANAND –388 110
Year of Establishment
April, 1982.
Introduction
All India Co-ordinated Research Project on weed Control was started in
April, 1982 with the financial assistance of PL 480 through ICAR, New Delhi
at Anand Agricultural University, Anand upto May 1987 and it was further
continued with financial assistance from ICAR, New Delhi and State
Government (75:25% basis). The main objective of the project is to find out
economic and feasible integrated weed management practices for various crops
and cropping system in intensive irrigated areas of Gujarat. The
scheme scientists are from the disciplines of Agronomy, Agril. Chem. & Soil
Science and crop physiology. The technical programmes are finalized for
implementation aiming towards achieving the broad objectives of the project.
The annual technical programme is approved by the Project coordinator, AICRP
on Weed Control, National Research Centre for Weed Science, Jabalpur. The
technologies developed are discussed in the state levels scientific workers
conference (AGRESCO) and included in the crop production guide published by
the Director of Research, Anand Agricultural University and Director of
Extension Education, Anand Agricultural University for the benefit of farmer

Pre-emergence
or post transplant (3 days before or after) application of
fluchloralin 1.0 kg/ha or pendimethalin 0.750 kg/ha or two
hand weeding 21 and 60 days of transplanting
: :
Onion crop
raise to closer spacing it becomes tedious to remove weeds
manually from closer vicinity of the seedling. The hand
weeding potently results in damage to the developing bulbs
which affecting quality as well as productivity. The
herbicidal treatment keeps weed free condition to onion
field from initial growth stage up to about 30-45 of DAT.
: :
An application
of pendimethalin 0.5 kg/ha at 10 DAS for effective control
of Cuscuta spp. in Lucerne. Pendimethalin residues
were not detected in lucerne plant, hence use of this herbicide is
safe.
: :
Lucerne is
grown by broadcasting method, hence hand weeding of dodder
is not feasible and also time consuming. But the herbicidal
treatment provides weed free condition for longer period.
More over, Cuscuta is effectively control by the above
herbicide
