impacts effective education in agriculture through residential semester
system of under-graduate and post-graduate degree programme providing the
degrees in three faculties namely Agriculture, Dairy Science and Veterinary
and Animal Husbandary:
They
comprise three distinct yet mutually supportive segments- Education, Research and
Extension Education.
In
Agriculture faculty this section involves exposure to concepts, skills and
knowledge .In this faculty so far 4987 graduates,1284 post-graduates and 204
Ph Ds have completed their studies through the portals of B.A.College of
Agriculture, established in 1947.
In dairy Science faculty, Sheth M.C .College of Dairy Science started in
1961. Then, SMC graduates were given a diploma (IDD , Indian Dairy
Diploma). As years progressed , the college broadened their educational
horizons and students then graduate( Bachelor of Science) degree in Dairy
Technology. In 1989, the coursework was upgraded to an enormous extent with
many new subjects and wider orientations .Students starting their education
in 1989 and after were/are given a degree of B. Tech (Bachelor of
technology) in Dairy Technology.
In Veterinary and Animal Husbandry faculty, the College of Veterinary
Science & Animal Husbandry, Anand, established in the year 1964, has played
a key role in development and growth of livestock sector in Gujarat. The
college shoulders major responsibilities and Animal Science, to conduct high
quality research ,to enhance the economical productivity and to transfer the
technology to the farmers. |
