Agricultural Research Station, Derol

OBJECTIVES OF RESEARCH SCHEME

(A) PADDY  RESEARCH  SCHEME  :-

  1. Hybridization programme of drilled paddy varieties with specific donors in respect of fine grain quality, drought tolerance, chlorosis tolerance and early maturity duration.
  2. Study of physiological causes and remedies for the problem of chlorosis in drilled rice.
  3. Evaluation of genotypes of drilled rice for specific cropping system like inter-cropping and early stage competition with weeds.
  4. To solve the termite problems in drilled paddy.

(B) NATIONAL  AGRICULTURAL  RESEARCH  PROJECT  :-

  1. Screening of genotypes for sterility mosaic in pigeonpea, will be given the priority.
  2. Identify the high yielding genotypes in greengram, cowpea, pigeonpea and chickpea.
  3. Development and isolation of high yielding coupled with wilt resistant in chickpea.
  4. Development of suitable cropping system irrigation and plant protection schedule and agronomic practices for increasing productivity per unit area.
  5. To solve the termite problems in pulses at the station.
  6. To fix the economic threshold level of Helicoverpa armigera in chickpea.

(C) OILSEEDS  RESEARCH  SCHEME   :-

  1. Testing and verification of groundnut, sunflower, mustard and other oilseed genotypes/varieties for higher yield and economic return.

(D) GENETIC ENHANCEMENT & PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES OF PULSES, OILSEEDS & CEREALES

  1. To evolve new genotypes for pulses and oilseeds with biotic stress tolerance.
  2. To develop remunerative and low cost production technologies.
  3. To improve quality characters of pulses and oilseeds.

(E) GENETIC ENHANCEMENT & PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES OF CLUSTERBEAN (GUAR) FOR YIELD       AND QUALITY

  1. To develop new variety/s with higher yield potential and resistant/tolerant to biotic stresses.
  2. To develop short duration variety/s suitable for summer cultivation.
  3. To standardize production technologies.
  4. To develop suitable plant protection measures against biotic stresses.
  5. To improve quality of guar in terms of gum content.
  6. To study the anti-nutritional factors and galactomannan present in gum.
