Kapila Cattle Research Center, Meenavada

Meenavada farm was government fallow land since long; it is situated 7.0 km far away from both Dakor-Mahudha and Mahudha- Kathalal state highway. It is 30 km away from Nadiad and 12 km from Mahudha. It is situated in Mahudha Taluka. This farm was handed over to Anand Agricultural University in January 2009. The land is undulated and formation of gullies due to extremely high soil erosion. The river Moher is passed near by farm as a result the water table of the farm is shallow. The quality of under ground water is also good. The soil is sandy loam and medium in fertility. Tobacco, Castor, Sorghum, Bajra and Wheat are the major principal crops of the surrounding areas. The Meenavada farm is named as Kapila Cattle Research Station. This village is famous for Dashama Mataji temple. Every year more than 15 lacks religious peoples are visiting this temple. This temple is only 2.0 km. away from our Research Station.

MANDATE OF FARM

  1. The main objective of the farm is to preserve and maintaining the kankrej breed.

This farm is also interested in producing good kankrej bullocks and bulls.
