Functions of the Directorate of Extension Education
To initiate, organize, coordinate and conduct extension education programmes in consultation with Deans, other Directors and the Heads of the Department of concerned subject at the University level
To supervise and monitor the extension education activities of all categories of academic staff members
To ensure close co-operation and co-ordination of the extension education activities of the University among its constituent colleges, research centers and recognised institutions, on one hand and among the concerned Departments of the State Government and Institutions on the other
To formulate budget estimates for extension education programmes and activities for all the concerned departments of the University in consultation with the Deans and the Heads of Departments
To Guide and supervise the working of the Information and Publicity Section dealing with publicity, publications, audio-visual aids, radio and electronic media etc., for the successful implementation of the extension education programmes and other activities
To initiate and organize seminars, training classes, camps etc, for farmers and farm women in consultation with concerned officers of the State Government, Director of Research, Deans and Heads of other institutions
Liaisoning extension education activities of the University under the guidance of the Vice-Chancellor for dealing with all aid-granting agencies, such as the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Department of Science and Technology and other Central and State Governments and autonomous institutions or trusts or Co-operative institutions and any other cooperating institutions and agencies
To initiate, plan and organise extension training programmes for professional extension workers including those serving under the constituent colleges, research centres, other recognised institutions, Central and State Governments and autonomous institutions
To conduct certificate courses/training programmes at the University level
To plan & co-ordinate for holding conferences, symposia, seminars and such other meetings and lectures as may be deemed essential and / or desirable
To provide feedback on the adoption of new findings to the research system and get solutions
To provide farm information services through various extension activities
To encourage, guide & support the extension education centres of the university for organizing different extension education activities for benefit of the farming community
To publish a monthly farm magazine “Krushigovidya” and quarterly “AAU Newsletter”
To establish structural linkages under Training & Visit system by way of constituting technical committees at District, Zonal and State level
To conduct bi-monthly workshops, pre-seasonal trainings, diagnostic team and State level crop seminars/ workshops; etc
To plan agricultural programmes of All India Radio as well as Doordarshan in coordination with the line departments
To plan interface and convergence meetings with functionaries of the departments of the State, NGOs and other agencies
