Recommendation of Chharodi Farm

1. Farmers of Agro-climatic zone-IV situation No.9 & 12 are advised not to grow custard apple in
heavy black soil having morum below plough layer and poor drainage. But, they can grow ber
(Gola) followed by caronda, guava, pomegranate and phalsa.
2. The farmers of North Gujarat Agro-climatic zone (AES-IX and XII) growing natural grass
(marvel grass) are advised to harvest the natural grass at the time of maturity and apply 60
Kg N/ha to obtain higher dry fodder yield as well as higher net realization.

PROGRESS OF N.C. CHHARODI DURING 2007-08 AND 2008-09

  1. Rice production of variety GR.11 and Gurjari were increased to the tune of 66,476 kg (44.2%) during the year 2007-08 as compared to 2006-07.
  2. The natural grass production was increased to the tune of 2980 bales (24%) during the year 2007-08 as compared to 2006-07.
  3. The milk production was increased to the tune of 20,422 kg (38%) during the year 2007-08 as compared to 2006-07.
  4. The survival of 60 to 70 per cent plants of Jatropha in about 50.0 ha land area in 2007-08.
  5. About 25 ha bid area brought under kayari land and transplanting of paddy variety Gurjari carried out in Kharif in 2008.
  6. The first time in history of Chharodi, 26 male calves sold to the different units of university and farmers for draft purpose during the year 2007.

CLOSING OF N.C.FARM, CHHARODI ON DATED 03-10-2008

The whole land of Chharodi Farm has taken up back by the Government of Gujarat on dated 03-10-2008 for the Nano Car Project. So now this Chharodi farm has been completely closed.

OPENING OF NEW SEVEN FARMS IN PLACE OF CHHARODI2008

The Gujarat Government has allotted Gauchar land in three districts viz., Kheda, Anand and Vadodara to the Anand Agricultural University, Anand for the establishment of new farms in place of Chharodi.The AAU,Anand has acquired the land of seven farms from the competent authority of Revenue Department, Gandhinagar and the respective authority of the district (Collector,Mamlatdar).The allotted land is Gauchar and undulating in nature so first top priority of the land is land development work. The Government has allotted Rs.3034 lakhs during 2009-10 for the land development work and create infrastructure facility like Office-cum-Laboratory, Compound wall, Tube well, Electrifications, Store Go-down, Threshing yard, Vermi-compost Unit, Implement shed,Bullock shed, Fodder shed, Pump room, Bullock shed, Staff quarters, Labour quarters etc.The work is in progress at all the farms. The two farms namely Sansoli and Jabugam has been started for agricultural purpose and cultivate the various crops during Rabi, 2009 and Kharif-2010 for seed multiplication and seeds are distributed to the farmers.

The University has transferred the staff of Chharodi farm to the newly establish seven farms and assign the work of administrative, technical and land development work. Development of Integrated Farming System at Chharodi was originally sanctioned at Chharodi under RKVY but it was transfer to new farms Sansoli/Nenpur. Dr. P. C. Patel, Research Scientist, N.C. Farm, Anand is the Principal Investigator of this project.
