Faculty of Dairy Science, Anand, is a pioneer national center for Dairy Technology education established in 1960.The faculty represented by S.M.C.College of Dairy Science has been recognized as "Center of Excellence" which produce qualified dairy professionals. These professionals, by their pursuit for excellence, depth of knowledge and honesty of purpose have brought laurels for themselves and repute to their alma mater.
The college started Indian Dairy Diploma in 1960 and looking to the need for Dairy Professionals, it also started B. Sc (Dairy technology) degree programme the next year itself as a part of the then Institute of Agriculture.
With the establishment of Gujarat Agriculture University, the college has been given the status of "The Faculty of Dairy Science " in 1972. In the year 1989, ICAR-NDDB joint panel recognized the college as one of the four National (Regional) Centers for excellence in dairy education. The degree programme was revised in 1989 from B. Sc (DT) to B. Tech.(DT). The post-graduate programme was started in 1977. leading to degree of M. Sc (dairying) as well as Ph. D.
Recenly, the college is also awarded as "Best Dairy Science College" for the year 2013 and 2014 by Times Research Group and Earth Research Group respectively.
