In this hi-tech era, agriculture enterprise is much more than merely crop production or livestock farming or allied activities. Farmers need to pre-empt environmental impact of climate change and this is where modern technologies (such as Precision Agriculture, Intensive Agriculture, Low-cost input farming, GIS, and Remote Sensing, Genetic Engineering, Biotechnology etc.) come to the rescue. There is no doubt that technology is empowering India’s farming future, and in order to empower this technology, agricultural universities need agriculture bachelors skilled manpower with knowhow of such future ready technologies and imparting the same in reshaping the traditional agricultural sector.

With this novel vision, College of Agriculture, AAU, Vaso offers a residential four- year degree course, B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, at Vaso village (of Kheda district). The program was sanctioned by the Department of Agriculture & Co-operation, Gujarat state vide its Notification No.AKV-122011-3207-k2 Dated 17/04/2012. Anand Agricultural University has started College of Agriculture, Vaso in April 2012 (Academic year 2012-13) which offers four- year Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree programme in the agriculture field. The campus is situated at 22° 67' N, 72º 77' E with the elevation of 33 meter above the mean sea level and situated on the Vaso-Pij road in Vaso Tehsil. It is 35 km away from main campus of AAU, Anand; 15 km from Nadiad Tehsil, and 50 km from Ahmedabad metro city.

The college aims to cater the upcoming demand of the agrarian economy by generation of a young workforce skilled with knowhow of future ready agricultural technologies. The college has a trained teaching faculty with a balanced blend of well experienced seniors and energetic youth focused towards teaching and research. The college offers only undergraduate programme. The curricula of the said academic programme are those as suggested by 5 th Dean’s Committee of ICAR.

OBJECTIVES

• To offer undergraduate courses leading towards the bachelor degree in agricultural science, i.e. B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture.
• To maintain high standards of teaching and research activities to cater future needs and opportunities.
• To undertake students and farmers-oriented extension activities.
• To undertake research work in agriculture sciences through projects sponsored by government, semi-government, and private organizations.
